The team-development process is assumed to be the process a team must pass through from a loose group to an effective team. Understanding the difference between a loose group and an effective team will support the understanding of the speed with which an effective team forms.
- Loose group—is a defined as several individuals brought together to achieve a task, but with no further development undertaken.
- Effective team—is one in which development of a supportive social structure has occurred, with each individual adapting their behavior to optimize their personal contribution to the team.
This table explains the nine key factors of the integrated team-development framework. The areas of need were broken down into lower levels of granularity, generating nine key factors that collectively differentiate a loose group from an effective team.
