
Assess Needs and Resources
Reviewing a range of data can help understand the severity of a problem as well as the resources available to work on the situation. Avoid relying on one source of data or on something one team member observed. Be sure to include youth voices. Young people are likely to generate fresh solutions.
Click here for a table that identifies strategies, programs, and activities. Sources of data include district resources, national websites, state websites, state or national professional organizations, colleagues at other districts, research publications, and more.
Be aware of data paralysis. You don’t have to collect data from all the sources mentioned above. You need some specific data (especially the voices of those who are responsible for implementation and those the changes will serve).
