Action Planning

Getting a climate or safety initiative going requires planning. Although you may have a great idea, planning and preparation before jumping into a change increases your chances of success. So, here are the steps in a surefire planning process.

When considering a change, you need to take into account a number of factors:

  • The VISION of the change you want to see in the school
  • The SKILLS of those who will be implementing the change
  • The INCENTIVES or motivation to make a change
  • The RESOURCES both financial and human to get the job done.
  • An ACTION PLAN to guide the change.

Missing any one of these factors may compromise your results.  Click here for a copy of the factsheet on Managing Complex Change to review with the Team.

This section will take you and your team through this process one step at a time. Although this planning process may seem similar to the ones you have already used, going through the steps with your climate or safety goal in mind helps focus. It is most effective if you and your team work through these steps together.
